With a brief, but impactful teaser presented late last month, Alien: Romulus managed to capture the attention of many fans. However, this ninth film of the popular xenomorphs is not the only production on the horizon. The recent acquisition of Fox by Disney has enabled several projects to get underway, and among them is also an FX series to be helmed by Noah Hawley (Fargo).
This will mark the small screen debut of the Alien universe and will be the first story in the franchise to take place on Earth, some 70 years in the future. After a series of delays as a result of last year's double Hollywood strike, this project has returned to the set and, with some tailwind, could be out in 2025. Hawley's small screen production has previously signed on the likes of Sydney Chandler (Don't Worry Darling), Timothy Olyphant (The Mandalorian), Kit Young (Shadow and Bone), Alex Lawther (Black Mirror), Samuel Blenkin (Sandman) and Essie Davis (The Babadook). But what's new is the arrival of an actress from Apple TV+'s sci-fi series, Foundation.
According to a recent report, Sandra Yi Sencindiver has joined the cast as a recurring figure. Although the exact details of her role are still under wrap, Sencindiver will appear in several episodes and will play a high-ranking official of Weyland-Yutani, the corporation that is present in almost all of the Alien properties.
For the moment, the series does not have an official title and details of its plot remain scarce. However, according to its showrunner, it will be "an extension and reinvention" of what was proposed in the cinematic universe that will also portray the race of the different companies to bring the androids to life.
