In October 2023, Alice Oseman began production on the third season of Heartstopper after several months of revising the new scripts. The author of the original comics and screenwriter of the Netflix series was preparing for the continuation of the emotional love story between Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), as well as the rest of their gang of friends.
The characters of Truham and Higgs high schools made us fall in love with them through their experiences during their school years, achieving such success that the red giant of streaming renewed the series even for a fourth season, before the premiere of this third batch of chapters. Now, Netflix has announced new additions to the cast of the series.
All indications are that Charlie's eating disorder will be the main focus of the new episodes, as well as the progress in his relationship with Nick. We will also learn more about "Tao's [William Gao] true passion, what he likes to do and what his hobbies are", and his rapprochement with Elle (Yasmin Finney). In addition, the third season of Heartstopper will feature the arrival of Jonathan Bailey (The Bridgertons) in the role of Jack Maddox, a character who does not actually appear in the original comics, but who would be part of Alice Oseman's work. This role takes inspiration in Henry Maddox, the protagonist of the story The Ethics of Infatuation Dynamic.
Other high-profile names have also been added. Marvel's Hayley Atwell will be Diane, Nick's aunt, with whom he goes on vacation to Menorca. And the reputed Eddie Marsan plays Geoff, Charlie's therapist whom readers of the comics already know.
The third season of Heartstopper will arrive in October 2024.
