After several months of rumors and speculation, it is now official that Ralph Ineson will play Galactus, the main villain in The Fantastic Four. Previously, several names had been considered, including those of Javier Bardem and Antonio Banderas, but finally the role was left in the hands of the British actor.
Everyone knows Ineson for his notable performances in Chernobyl, Game of Thrones, the Harry Potter saga and, most recently, The First Omen. He also had a minor role in the MCU since he participated in Guardians of the Galaxy as a member of the Ravager. “World-devouring cosmic villain, right? I'll see what I can do,” stated Ralph Ineson via X (the social network formerly known as Twitter) confirming the announcement of his participation.
The performer joins a cast that already featured Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm and Julia Garner in the role of Shalla-Bal, an incarnation of Silver Surfer.
Ineson's signing as Galactus became official hours after news broke that John Malkovich would also be in the film. However, it is still unknown who the latter will play.
WandaVision's Matt Shakman is in charge of directing the film from a script by Josh Friedman. Previously, the filmmaker previewed that Fantastic Four will be very different from anything we've seen from the genre, both inside and outside the MCU. “It's different in a lot of ways. I wish I could say more. But we're doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from a cinematic approach that really fits the material. But I think it's going to be different than anything you've seen before, and certainly different than anything you've seen before at Marvel,” he acknowledged.
