Weeks ago, we learned that production company Vertical (He Went That Way) had closed a deal for U.S. rights to the thriller A Sacrifice, the new film from Jordan Scott, daughter of Ridley Scott (Napoleon, Gladiator, Blade Runner) who also previously worked on Thunder Perfect Mind.
Now, the production company has revealed the first teaser, in which we see a father desperate to find his daughter, who has joined a dangerous cult. According to the official synopsis: “A Sacrifice is an emotionally turbulent story that follows American social psychologist Ben Monroe as he investigates a local Berlin cult linked to disturbing events. While immersed in his work, his rebellious teenage daughter, Mazzy, becomes involved with a mysterious local boy who introduces her to the city's underground party scene. As their two worlds head toward a dangerous intersection, Ben will have to race against the clock to save his daughter.”
The project, previously called Berlin Nobody and inspired by Nicholas Hogg's 2015 novel Tokyo Nobody, features performances by Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down ), Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) Jonas Dassler (My Son) and Sophie Rois (The Inheritors), among others.
In celebrating the union with Vertical, the director and screenwriter expressed, “I am thrilled to partner with Vertical on the release of A Sacrifice. Their passion and appreciation for the film has been consistent throughout and I couldn't be more excited for audiences to see the film in theaters and beyond.”
Although there is still no news about its arrival in theaters (which is likely to be soon), we expect further updates on this dark and dramatic story in the coming weeks.
