“You will cease to be idolized celebrities, you will become wrathful gods.” The first trailer for the new season of The Boys, one of Amazon Prime Video's star series, could not have left more iconic moments. After a third season to remember, the platform has put all the meat on the grill for a new installment. And never better said, because if anything shows its first teaser is flesh and blood.
In this trailer we meet again some of the illustrious characters of the series as Homelander (Anthony Starr), Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty), but especially Billy The Butcher (Karl Urban), who seems determined to end the superheroes of Vought once and for all. To do so, The Boys team will contact a mysterious figure brought to life by Jeffrey Dean Morgan - the legendary Negan from The Walking Dead - who is developing a virus lethal to superheroes. Starlight, who is nonetheless a creation of Vought, says it's a desperate and suicidal move. But you know what they say, desperate situations call for desperate measures.
In the trailer we have been able to see other new faces and some old acquaintances. People like Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) or Firecracker (Valorie Curry) will become part of the Seven, while we could see a familiar face like Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips), the character of the spin-off series Gen V, in which she gave life to a telepath with a dark side. But Dunlap is not the only surprise character to be in the teaser.
There is a lot to look forward to this upcoming season. It is also likely that we will see the other Gen V guys. Anyway, we'll have to wait for June 13 to find out what will happen.
