Bill Skarsgård will once again terrorize the residents of Derry as he is officially returning for the It prequel series in development by Max. While the actor had initially mentioned that he would not be attached to this TV project, a new report not only advances that he will bring Pennywise the clown back to life in Welcome to Derry, but that he will also be an executive producer.
First announced in early 2022, Welcome To Derry is a spin-off production of Stephen King's work that will expand the story of Pennywise while offering a much longer look at how his reign of terror affects the inhabitants of this fictional town. “I'm thrilled that the story of Derry, Maine's most haunted town, will continue, and that Andy Muschietti will be overseeing the terrifying festivities, along with a group of experts that includes his talented sister, Barbara. Red balloons everywhere,” stated the author about the new series. “As teenagers, we took turns reading chapters of Stephen King's It until the thick paperback was in pieces. It's an epic story that holds multitudes, far beyond what we could explore in our It movies. We can't wait to share the depths of Steve's novel, with all its heart, humor, humanity and horror,” added the Muschiettis.
With this confirmation, Bill Skarsgård joins a cast that already included Madeleine Stowe, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar and Stephen Rider. It also marks the actor's return to Stephen King's television universe after starring in the Hulu series Castle Rock. The series does not have a realese date yet, but filming began last year. Andy Muschietti reportedly directed four of the nine episodes of 'Welcome to Derry.'
