'Watchmen' is one of the most important comics in the history of the medium. Originally published in 1986 under the DC imprint with Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons as main creators, this story marked a before and after in the conception and representation of superheroes in the comics. In 2009, Zack Snyder adapted the pages of that work with a live-action film that is some to be the best project of the genre ever available, although it generated (and continues to generate) much division among readers and viewers. Warner Bros. Discovery has now released a new trailer for its animated version of 'Watchmen', a project that will soon arrive in two parts.
In the first trailer released we can see some of the most iconic moments from Moore and Gibbons' comic book sporting tremendous animation that is causing a sensation among fans. 'Watchmen' puts us in a cold, hard and complicated context in everyone which knows superheroes as Watchmen: "The Cold War is at its height, and superheroes, once admired, are now criminals."
One day one of them, 'The Comedian', who worked for the CIA, turns up dead. His friend Rorschach, the only active masked hero, will undertake the investigation of his death, where something important is hidden behind". The first part of this animated version will be out on August 13 of this year, although it will arrive digitally, it is not clear that it will be available on Max.
For the second part, we will have to wait until 2025. For the time being, we know that the project aims to be more faithful to the original comic book by recreating the vignettes through spectacular animation.
