Less than two weeks before its theatrical release, NEON shared a final trailer for Longlegs, its next horror film starring Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Nicolas Cage. This feature film, directed by Oz Perkins, had an eye-catching marketing campaign whose trailers focused on visual and audio impact, leaving more questions than answers about what to expect from the project.
The latest clip was no exception to the rule and continues to maintain the halo of mystery about the creepy serial killer that Cage will play in the film. Perkins, a director who already has a history within the horror genre with films like Gretel and Hansel, revealed why he made this choice. "We're taking people into a freak show in a circus. We have something behind the curtain, and when enough people gather around it, we're going to pull it back," the filmmaker promised.
In addition, Nicolas Cage, for his part, added about his character: "He's a monster of a very, very dangerous substance. The way it moves, it unveils, it unfolds has to be treated very carefully. Forget about it blowing up the movie theater, it could blow up the whole city, the country, maybe even the world. It's going to change your reality. Your doors of perception are going to open, and your life is not going to be the same."
As previously mentioned, Longlegs takes its main inspiration from classic Hollywood psychological thrillers. Its story follows Lee Harker (Monroe), a new recruit assigned to a cold case with a serial killer at its center (Cage). As the investigation progresses, Harker discovers a personal connection to the criminal, something that will push her to work against the clock if she wants to prevent him from claiming the life of another innocent man.
