The documentary Midnight Family captured the world's attention after earning nominations at prestigious film festivals such as Sundance, Ariel Awards, Guadalajara Film Festival, and Hong Kong Film Festival. Its raw portrayal of a family-run ambulance service competing for survival in Mexico City made it one of the most talked-about Mexican documentaries of 2019.
Now, Mexican director Natalia Beristáin (Noise, 2022) brings this compelling story to the small screen with a series adaptation for streaming platform Apple TV+. The medical drama follows several mexican families as they navigate the dangerous and high-stakes world of private ambulance services.
Apple TV+ has assembled an all-Hispanic cast and crew for ‘Midnight Family’, led by actors such as Joaquín Cosío (Narcs), Renata Vaca, Diego Calva, and Sergio Bautista. Moreover, the show also features a special guest appearance by Óscar Jaenada and performances by José María de Tavira, Itzan Escamilla, Mariana Gómez, Dolores Heredia, and the special participation of Yalitza Aparicio (Roma).
As a matter of fact, Apple TV has not yet released a trailer for the series, but has actually shared a series of official images showcasing the Tamayo family members standing in front of their ambulance. The images capture the family as they prepare for their nightly work on the city streets.
Apple TV+ has already made a name for itself with high-quality series like Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Presumed Innocent. With Midnight Family, the streaming platform continues to invest in compelling international stories. In fact, the promising show, consisting of 10 episodes, shoots to be another hit and will debut in late November this year.
