Marvel Studios wants to replicate the success of Avengers: Endgame and is already negotiating with Joe and Anthony Russo to direct Avengers 5. A new report mentions that the dynamic duo would be the chosen ones to take charge of the next two Avengers movies. The Russo brothers are not the only ones on the list, although their experience on previous projects puts them as favorites. According to a THR report, Marvel Studios has chosen Joe and Anthony Russo to direct the next films of the popular superhero group. One of the projects is Avengers 5, as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is now known after the firing of Jonathan Majors, the deal would also include Avengers: Secret Wars, a project they have been interested in for years.
Negotiations are in the early stages and it will be some time before they materialize. According to sources, the Russo's are not Marvel's first choice to take the helm of Avengers 5. Shawn Levy, director of Marvel's Deadpool and Wolverine, was one of the names that sounded the loudest in recent months, but did not materialize.
At the moment there is no confirmation that Joe and Anthony Russo will be the directors. The choice of both as directors of the next Avengers films seems to be the smartest decision of Marvel in several years. The studio has not managed to achieve another success of the caliber of Avengers: Endgame and drags a long list of failures. Although the Russo's have stated that they would like to return to direct an Avengers movie, Marvel has failed to sign them. One of the reasons holding back their return was Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit in 2021.
