Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis will star as the iconic sisters Kay and Dorothy Scarpetta, solving gruesome murders in a thrilling adaptation of Patricia Cornwell's best-selling novels in a gripping new series is coming to Amazon Prime Video. The novels deeply explore into the world of forensic science, providing readers with detailed descriptions of autopsies, crime scene investigations, and the latest forensic techniques.
After over a year in development, Amazon's Prime Video has officially greenlit a two-season series based on the popular Scarpetta novels. Nicole Kidman will take on the lead role, starring opposite Jamie Lee Curtis. Both actresses will also serve as executive producers. The show has assembled a star-studded cast, including Bobby Cannavale (Ezra), Simon Baker (The Mentalist), Ariana DeBose (Wish/West Side Story), Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean), and Jake Cannavale (Eat, brains, love). Oscar and Emmy-winning stars will further their television careers with a new two-season series on Prime Video.
The official synopsis reads: “The mystery thriller, based on the hit book series, follows Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), the Chief Medical Examiner, as she returns to Virginia and resumes her former position with complex relationships, both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with plenty of grudges and secrets to uncover.” In an exclusive for The Hollywood Reporter , Curtis said “I have wanted to bring Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta to a screen, with my company, Comet Pictures, for a while,” Curtis said in a statement. While Kidman stated ”I’ve been pursuing Scarpetta for nearly 20 years going back to when it was intended to be a feature". And now, the project is in the works.
