Amazon MGM is the latest studio to try and bring the game to the silver screen, following a previous attempt by 20th Century Fox in 2007. Now, Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced plans to adapt the popular video game series into a feature film, as confirmed by Deadline. under the production of Margot Robbie. This news comes six months after initial reports of the project surfaced. While the plot details remain confidential, it's confirmed that Loki director Kate Herron will helm the film, based on a script she co-wrote with Briony Redman. Herron, the director and executive producer behind the critically acclaimed first season of Marvel Studios' 'Loki,' has also directed episodes for Netflix's Sex Education and HBO's The Last of Us.
LuckyChap, Margot Robbie's production company that also produced blockbuster and Oscar Nominated Barbie, is the main funder of the project. In addition, Vertigo Entertainment, and Electronic Arts' 'The Sims' team will also produce the movie, with Herron and Redman also serving as executive producers.
