Legendary actress Fran Drescher will be making her highly anticipated return to the big screen in the upcoming film "Marty Supreme." The actress is returning to live-action roles after a four-year hiatus, ready to captivate audiences with her talent. As reported by Variety, Fran Drescher, historically famous for creating and starring on The Nanny, and the current president of SAG-AFTRA, is joining the cast of Josh Safdie's latest film, which is currently in production. Regarding her role, Drescher will play the mother of the protagonist, Oscar nominee for Best Actor for "Call Me By Your Name" Timothée Chalamet.
However, since her last live-action film in 2019, the American actress has been absent from live-action sets. During this time, Drescher has solely focused on voice acting, lending her talent to the 2022 film Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Fran has also consistently been involved in TV shows like "Secrets of the Morning", "Mr. Mayor", and "Alone Together". In 2021, Drescher won the election for president of SAG-AFTRA. She became a leading voice in the 2023 strike that brought the film and television industry to a standstill for five months.
In addition to Drescher, "Marty Supreme" will also feature the return of Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, marking her first film role since "Avengers: Endgame" five years ago. Joining the cast is musician Tyler the Creator as well, marking his first film role. Also part of the A24 production are Odessa A'zion, Kevin O'Leaty, and director Abel Ferrara. Although specific plot details are scarce, we know that the film will be a 1950s ambientation and will center around Chalamet's character as a ping pong player. The film will most likely premiere in 2026.
