Netflix's hit political drama, The Diplomat, is returning for Season 2, and the trailer just came out. Picking up where Season 1 left off, the continuation dives into the aftermath of a devastating London bombing. Ambassador Kate Wyler is on a mission to uncover the culprits. Unexpectedly, her investigation takes a dramatic twist when she realizes not only was the bombing an inside job, but it was also perpetrated by someone within the British government.
The official synopsys for second season of The Diplomat reads: “As Kate chases the truth, her only real ally is her almost-ex-husband Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell), very much alive, and very much involved. She faces a fraught marriage, a complex dynamic with British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), and a threatening visit from the Vice President.” As a matter of fact, The Diplomat Season 2 reunites the original cast, including Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, and David Gyasi. Besides, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh. Joining them is Oscar-winner Allison Janney as Vice President Grace Penn.
Netflix officially announced the renewal of the show in March of this year. In fact, the first season was widely popular on the platform, debuting on the streamer’s weekly global Top 10 English TV list. Moreover, according to a Variety report, just four days after the release of the political thriller series, it garnered 57.48 million hour views, appearing in the Top 10 in 86 countries.
