'I Love Boosters': Naomi Ackie on the set of Boots Riley new movie

After his directorial debut back in 2018, Boots Riley is coming to the big screen with 'I Love Boosters' an "Sci-Fi" comedy film about fashion, with a stacked cast of stars set to bring this project to life for Neon, the main producer and distributor for this film (at least in the United States so far)

In a recent interview with co-star Robert Pattinson in their current promotional press tour for 'Mickey17', British actress Naomi Ackie talks about her upcoming projects, including the fact that she just came back from filming Riley's upcoming movie, and describes it as "mental".

'I Love Boosters' started shooting back in November 2024, and we got to see Keke Palmer alongside Naomi Ackie on the set, both wearing some extravagant fashion in the middle of the street, and while the premise reads as a simple heist movie about fashion.

More specifically shoplifters stealing from big boutiques to resell for cheaper prices on the street who eventually start to aim higher with their objectives until they decide to steal from a highly regarded fashion expert.

Ackie confirms the film will have a lot of magical-realism and surreal elements to it, something completely expected coming from Riley after his debut 'Sorry To Bother You' and his show 'I Am A Virgo' where surrealism reigns supreme.

While Keke Palmer seems to be the lead in this movie and Naomi Ackie a character really close to the main, the ensemble cast is full or recognizable names playing importants roles, including recent Oscar nominee Demi Moore, with this being her first project right after 'The Substance'.

British actor Will Poulter is on the film as well, alongisde LaKeith Stanfield (his second time collaborating with the director), Taylour Paige (A24's 'Zola'), Eiza Gonzalez who has two upcoming projects with British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, and Poppy Liu ('Hacks', 'Dead Ringers').

There's not a release date for the film yet, since it recently entered post-production and the team might want to showcase it in some festivals before a theatrical release, but we're sure Neon will share some news soon enough.
