The UK pop star Max George has bravely revealed the terrifying details of his health crisis that began last December and continues to overshadow his career comeback with 'The Wanted'.
The 37-year-old singer, who's rise to fame was because of the band 'The Wanted', in a recent interview opened up that he was so sure he was close to death during his initial hospitalization that he wrote his will on his mobile phone.
This health nightmare began in December 2024 when the singer had to rush to a hospital in Manchester.
He then got his diagnosis, a severe atrioventricular heart block—a condition that caused his heart rate to plummet as low as 26 BPM.
George had to undergo emergency surgery to have a pacemaker fitted, calling it "the best Christmas present I could’ve ever wished for." ironically after the scary surprise.
The operation, became deeply personal unexpectedly, as the surgeon placed the device just beneath a tattoo of the date 04.08.1988, the birthdate of his late bandmate, Tom Parker, who tragically died in 2022.
However, the surgery did not mark the end of anything. The pacemaker caused an intense "flicking sensation" that required a second operation and further tests.
Only for Doctors to discover a new health concern: large lymph nodes in his lungs, which they believe could go hand in hand with the root cause of his heart problem.
George had to go for a "gnarly" lung biopsy to investigate what going on.
And now, he shares pictures on his Social Media about to go into an MRI, just days prior to his tour accros America with Siva Kaneswaran.
Throughout the crisis, George leaned heavily on his family.
Crediting his mother, Babs, for saving his life after she insisted hiego to A&E when he woke up with hands that were "blue" and his body "freezing cold."
His 24-year-old girlfriend, actress Maisie Smith, has been his rock, helping him recover from his surgeries and being a constant source of support.
Despite the health battles, George has shown his resilience, returning to work earlier this year to perform alongside Maisie in the UK and European tour of The War of the Worlds, proving that even after facing death, he is determined to move forward with life and his career.
