Boxer Tommy Fury recently decided to swap the boxing ring for the open road and water when he took on a tough challenge in France.
He entered the French Riviera T100 Triathlon, an intense 100-kilometer race.
The T100 triathlon is a grueling event. It makes athletes complete three parts: a 2-kilometer swim, an 80-kilometer bike ride, and an 18-kilometer run.
Fury publicly said that he completed the huge challenge after only 10 days of training.
Tommy Fury talks about the reality of the race
While Fury put in a lot of effort and ran across the finish line with his signature sprint, the race results show a different story.
During the cycling part of the race, Fury and some other amateur athletes did not finish the full 80-kilometer course.
Organizers had to reopen the roads to regular traffic because of the event's time permits, and this meant some competitors had to stop cycling early.
Because he did not complete the full distance of the course, race officials recorded his result as a DNF (Did Not Finish).
However, the event organizers still wanted to give the athletes a full experience.
They let Fury and the other competitors who missed the cut-off time take part in the final 18-kilometer run.
This allowed him to finish and celebrate at the finish line, where his partner, Molly-Mae Hague, and their daughter were waiting.
Despite the official DNF, Fury celebrated the huge effort he put in. He showed great determination by finishing the run, proving that he can push his body in new ways outside of boxing.
The event was a major test of endurance that very few people can even attempt.
