Tessa Peake-Jones recently shared a moving update regarding Sir David Jason’s reaction to a new Only Fools and Horses project.
Appearing on the television show Lorraine on January 14, 2026, the actress discussed the upcoming documentary series Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive.
The program marks the 45th anniversary of the legendary sitcom. Tessa revealed that she and David, along with other co-stars, gathered to watch 66 previously unseen clips discovered in the BBC archives.
David Jason, who played the iconic Del Boy, had a deeply "poignant" and emotional response to seeing the decades-old material.
Tessa noted that at one point, David looked at the screen and remarked, "Oh, we were so young and successful back then."
She described his perspective as "quite depressing" but understandable, given the passage of time.
The actors watched scenes that had been cut from original broadcasts, some because they were considered too moving or long for the fast-paced comedy format of the 1980s.
The new two-part series will air on U&GOLD and features digitally restored footage from over 10 classic episodes.
Producers found the material in a drawer at the BBC, including behind-the-scenes rushes and an unseen opening scene from "The Class of '62."
Tessa explained that while the cast didn't remember some of the clips, David recalled that the production team removed certain scenes simply because they weren't funny enough at the time.
However, the cast found it peculiar and touching to see themselves so many years ago.
The documentary also includes interviews with Gwyneth Strong (Cassandra) and Sue Holderness (Marlene) as they pay tribute to the show’s creator, John Sullivan.
David Jason expressed that the love for the show has never faded and that sharing these rediscovered moments is incredibly special.
While the reunion brought back some bittersweet memories for the 85-year-old actor, the project highlights the enduring legacy of one of Britain's most successful comedies.
Fans can look forward to seeing the "lost" Peckham moments when the special broadcasts later this year.
