Ross Kemp will return to the BBC soap opera EastEnders later this year to reprise his role as the legendary Grant Mitchell.
The actor already started filming scenes at the Elstree studios for a spring comeback.
While Kemp made a brief appearance for the show's 40th anniversary in February 2025, producers confirmed this return involves a much more substantial and emotional storyline.
The plot centers on Grant’s reunion with his estranged son, Mark Fowler Jr.
This meeting marks the first time the two characters will share the screen since Mark discovered Grant is his biological father.
Additionally, Grant returns to Walford to support his old friend Nigel Bates, who currently struggles with worsening dementia.
Ross Kemp expressed a personal interest in this specific storyline, as he has dealt with the effects of the condition within his own family.
The return of one half of the "Mitchell Brothers" usually brings significant drama to Albert Square.
Executive producer Ben Wadey noted that the Mitchell family remains a cornerstone of the show and expressed excitement about bringing such a recognizable face back to the cast.
Grant's arrival will likely spark tension with his brother Phil Mitchell and his former wife Sharon Watts, both of whom still reside in the Square.
Ross Kemp first joined the cast in 1990 and became one of the most famous figures in British soap history.
Although he left the regular cast in 1999, he has returned for several guest stints over the decades, including the 2016 exit of his on-screen mother, Peggy Mitchell.
Outside of acting, Kemp has earned praise for his investigative documentaries and his work as the host of the game show Bridge of Lies.
Longtime fans of the series eagerly anticipate the impact Grant Mitchell will have on current residents during his latest stay.
