Actor Kurt Russell recently shared a story about the time he hosted Princess Diana and her sons at his home in Colorado.
During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, the 74-year-old actor recalled inviting the late Princess of Wales to his ranch to help her escape the paparazzi.
Prince Harry reportedly still views the trip as one of the most enjoyable highlights of his childhood.
The connection began in August 1991 at the royal premiere of the film Backdraft. Kurt Russell sat between Princess Diana and the then-Prince Charles during the screening.
During their conversation, the actor learned about the difficulties Diana faced with constant media attention.
He told her that if she ever needed a private place to stay, he could arrange a visit to his secluded 70-acre estate.
A few years after the initial offer, Princess Diana took him up on the invitation.
She traveled to the Colorado ranch with Prince William and Prince Harry for a ten-day stay.
Kurt Russell and his long-term partner, Goldie Hawn, were not present at the property during the royal visit, allowing the family to have total privacy.
The actor noted that the visit held historical significance for him.
He pointed out that the future King of England, Prince William, slept in his son’s bedroom during the stay.
Although the hosts were away, their housekeeper, Bonnie, became close with the Princess.
Diana reportedly sent Bonnie Christmas cards every year following the trip until her passing in 1997.
