James Burrows is having a daughter with his girlfriend Sophie Coates.
The "Coronation Street" actor and his significant other discovered they are to become parents for the first time last year, and the couple cannot wait to meet their baby girl.
He said: "I'm so excited to be having a daughter; I can't wait to meet her now."
The pair seem unlikely to have any issues choosing a name for their little one as Sophie admits they discussed baby monikers on their first date, and it only took the pair a month to get pregnant.
She said: "We'd only recently said we'd properly start trying. And a month later we fell pregnant."
But James admits he would've loved to have popped the question by now.
He said: "I'd liked to have got engaged before now. I was going to ask Sophie in Australia when we were visiting my family last November but then we found out we were expecting."
As well as engagement plans, James harbours ambitions to appear on other shows at some point during his career, so has confirmed he will not portray Ali Neeson "for years".
He added to OK! magazine: "I won't stay for years. There are other roles I'd like to do."
James took to Instagram last October to confirm he and Sophie were expecting, and admitted they are "over the moon" to find out she is pregnant.
She wrote: "Me and my beautiful girlfriend @sophie_coates are over the moon to announce that we're having a baby. We can not contain our excitement we are so so happy x (sic)"
