A year after Universal Pictures presented the first look at footage from its upcoming two-part musical Wicked at CinemaCon, Jon M. Chu returns to Las Vegas for the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners. Chu will be the guest of honor at an annual filmmakers luncheon during which he will receive a Cultural Impact in Filmmaking Award for a "visionary approach to storytelling and his commitment to representing diverse voices and perspectives." The Fathom-sponsored event, scheduled for April 11 at the Octavius Ballroom, will also include a conversation with Chu.

In 2022, HBO surprised a good part of its audience with the sudden cancellation of the series Westworld after four seasons. The news came after its co-creators, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, expressed their desire to close the story with a fifth and final installment. Continuing in this vein, it is approaching the release of its next film titled Cuckoo. Neon revealed the first teaser and, along with the new trailer, the official synopsis is also out: "Unwillingly, 17-year-old Gretchen leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved to a resort in the German Alps with his new family. Upon arriving at her future residence, she encounters the strange boss of her new home."

The film Joker: Folie à Deux is one of the most anticipated movie events of the year, and given the high violence content of its predecessor, it's no wonder that the sequel, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, has received an R (or "adults only") rating from the Motion Picture Association, it was reported Wednesday. The MPA's daily newsletter, explains that the reasons are due to "some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality, and brief full nudity" throughout the film. The features suggest a reduction in explicit content unlike 2019's Joker, whose categorization is "strong bloody violence, disturbing behavior, brief sexual language and imagery."

Titled IF (short for Imaginary Friends), the film revolves around a young girl who develops the ability to see everyone's imaginary friends, most of whom are created by people when they were little and then forgotten. Here we follow her as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect all people with her children's imaginary friends.

The new season of Doctor Who arrives on Disney+ on May 10. Ncuti Gatwa takes command of the TARDIS alongside Millie Gibson in this new installment of the world's longest-running science fiction television series. In fact, the platform has released a trailer that promises extravagant adventures for the two travelers including monsters.. "Ruby, do you want to know my secret? I have the whole universe at my fingertips… but I'm alone. I'd love for you to come with me," Gatwa's character says to Gibson's character in the trailer.
