Compared to the James Bond saga and presented as the new big bet in spy movies, Argylle failed to meet the expectations that Apple TV+ generated around the film. Directed by Matthew Vaughn and with a cast led by Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Dua Lipa and Samuel L. Jackson, the title had a disappointing first week of release, grossing $35 million, a minimal figure in relation to its hefty budget. The lack of public interest was matched by the disdain of critics, who gave it a 34% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
