The BBC’s latest Vigil series takes viewers to a remote Arctic research station, supposedly located on Norway’s Svalbard archipelago

In reality, much of the laboratory drama was filmed inside a Kia showroom in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire

Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie spent six days filming in Svalbard, while interiors were also created at Stirling University and a Shotts quarry

CGI helped blend the Scottish locations with genuine Arctic footage

The new series follows international espionage as Britain, America, Russia and China vie for influence over the region’s resources.
