The pair remain divided over the comedy troupe’s finances and management, with Idle claiming the group’s business affairs are still chaotic and that online broadcasts have weakened royalty income
Idle also criticised Cleese’s support for politician Rupert Lowe
He says he will not join Cleese, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam for a proposed 2026 revival
Cleese’s plans therefore appear set to proceed without the Spamalot writer.
