Matthew Rhys’s former music teacher Delyth Medi Lloyd says his remarkable stage talent was clear long before Hollywood success
At 18, the Welsh actor led his Cardiff school’s 1993 musical about Elvis, memorising the singer’s mannerisms and performing every song with total commitment
Lloyd recalls a confident, funny pupil who regularly stood out in school concerts and productions
Rhys has now won four Emmys, including two leading-actor awards at this year’s ceremony, and shared the comedy series prize as an executive producer
He later trained at Rada after receiving a scholarship.
