Will Young has revisited his tense relationship with Simon Cowell, recalling how their confrontation on Pop Idol became a turning point in his career
Speaking to Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball on the Dig It podcast, the singer said Cowell appeared to dislike him, but admitted the friction made viewers take notice
Young eventually won the 2002 series after defeating Gareth Gates
He remains proud that, despite being young and facing a powerful music executive, he challenged Cowell’s criticism rather than staying silent.
