Maureen Lipman attempts to calm West End casting row

Dame Maureen Lipman says she has offered an olive branch to Gerard McCarthy after the Hollyoaks actor withdrew from the West End play Right Before I Go

McCarthy objected to Lipman’s publicly expressed views on Israel and Palestine, while transgender performer Iz Hesketh also left, citing personal values

Lipman, who is Jewish, said she does not bear a grudge but will now distance herself from the dispute

McCarthy later removed likes linked to abusive and antisemitic remarks, insisting they were not endorsements of the language used.
