Musical theatre favourite Gary Wilmot is divorcing his third wife after 23 years together
The 72-year-old performer, who became known through children’s television before building a successful stage career, said the couple had reached different phases of their lives
Wilmot is currently appearing with the Royal Shakespeare Company in As You Like It at Stratford-upon-Avon, while continuing to develop several writing projects
His split comes amid a rise in so-called “grey divorce”: Office for National Statistics figures indicate separations among over-65s have climbed by 38 per cent in a decade.
