Johnny Ball Claims BBC Is Failing Older Broadcasters

Veteran presenter Johnny Ball has accused the BBC of ageism, suggesting his daughter Zoe Ball lost her Radio 2 roles partly because she was over 50

Speaking at the Dorchester Literary Festival, the 88-year-old said experienced broadcasters were being replaced by younger talent aimed at attracting Gen Z listeners

Zoe, 55, left the Breakfast Show in 2024 and later departed her Saturday afternoon programme

Johnny also questioned whether new Strictly host Josh Widdicombe had the same comic authority as Bruce Forsyth had brought to the programme.
