Ben Ashenden has recalled meeting David Mitchell in public 16 years ago, long before they became co-stars in BBC comedy-mystery Ludwig
Ashenden approached the Peep Show favourite to praise his work and reveal his own hopes of becoming a comedian, later admitting that nerves had got the better of him
Mitchell replied kindly, while pointing out a spelling mistake in Ashenden’s follow-up post
The pair now appear together in Ludwig’s second series, alongside Anna Maxwell Martin
Inspired by Agatha Christie, the show blends weekly puzzles with Mitchell’s dry humour.
