The Greeks in Italy

Forced from their Aegean homeland by political and population pressures, Greeks arrived in southern Italy and Sicily in force. Though faced with hostile natives and Carthaginians, the Greeks settled, prospered, and built some of the finest and largest temples and other structures of the ancient Greek world. This lecture includes a special section on the sculpture and painting of Greek Italy.
