Regional Sights & Treasures: Cinque Terra - Italy

Extending south to Tuscany, Italy's mountainous western coast on the Gulf of Genoa is Liguria, a picture book area with paradisical cliffs, remote villages, sunshine - a region known as Cinque Terre that comprises five villages: Monterosso Al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.

These previously hard-to-access colourful coastal villages can now be rewardingly accessed by train.
