SONNY has won a nationwide talent search to star in So Random! a popular television series. She moves from Wisconsin with her mom, Connie, and prepares for a new chapter in her life.
Sonny With A Chance follows her work and home life and how she adjusts to her new life.
She makes friends quickly with her fellow cast mates NICO, GRADY, and ZORA, while the show’s “star” TAWNI makes forging a friendship more difficult than Sonny was prepared for.
Sonny must also contend with the cast’s ongoing feud with the snooty cast of teen drama Mackenzie Falls and the good-looking star of the show, CHAD DYLAN COOPER.
Sonny arrives for her first day on the set of So Random! after winning a contest. While most of the cast welcomes her, one star refuses to acknowledge Sonny is a cast member.
When Sonny meets Chad Dylan Cooper, a hot actor from the teen drama "MacKenzie Falls" that shoots next door, she's slow to realize that the casts of the two shows don't exactly get along.
When the gang at So Random rejects Sonny's "Lame Superhero" sketch idea and bails on her at the lunch table, Chad and the gang from Mackenzie Falls embrace Sonny and invite her to hang with them.
Feeling bad that she's the only cast member not receiving any fan mail, Sonny writes herself a fan letter. When Marshall invites her fan to the show, Sonny must come up with something to save face and fast!
Sonny and Tawni are excited about their new characters, 'The Checkout Girls,' but find out that they cant do the sketch until Sonny raises her math grade.
Tawni is in disbelief when Sonny says she wont be attending Chads birthday party because she has plans. Sonnys best friend Lucy is coming to visit from Wisconsin and Sonny plans on doing all the things they loved to do together in Wisconsin.
