Follow the newly blended Bennett-Blatt family, preteen stepsiblings Blair and Owen and their parents Rachel and Byron, as they navigate everyday family life while balancing a household of contrasting personalities.

When Blair chooses Byron over Rachel for Career Day, tensions in the family rise; Owen tries to play peacemaker and encourages Rachel to tell Blair how she feels.
Owen doesn't have the heart to tell his dad that he has outgrown an embarrassing birthday tradition, while Blair learns that Owen is now friends with her ex-best friend Ruth.
When Blair gets in trouble at school, Rachel insists that she and Byron reverse roles. She puts Byron in charge of Blair's punishment while Rachel becomes the fun parent with Owen.
Rachel is being honored for her service to veterans, but Blair is disinerested in attending the award ceremony. Rachel confronts her and learns the root of Blair's behavior.
