Unable to withstand his sisters' teasing any longer, Yu-yu ran away from home and was brought to an abandoned amusement park by a member of Team Blackout. And that is also where Danji is aiming to get his 20th consecutive win, with Tohya standing in his way for that record.
Yu-yu finds Danji in town and attempts to tail him to find out more, but ended up being discovered. Danji senses Yu-yu's interest in starting Vanguard, and allows him to choose a card to be his buddy. Meanwhile, Megumi misunderstands the closeness of Danji and Yu-yu's relationship, and challenges Yu-yu to a cardfight.
The mysterious challenger Katsuki defeats Megumi and challenges Danji to a match, but Danji has a condition: to defeat Yu-yu first. And that's how Yu-yu started his special training with Danji for the cardfight one week later...
The morning after the sudden retirement announcement, the amusement park is labelled with notices for destruction, and Danji goes missing, leaving Yu-yu and the remaining Blackout members troubled. In order to keep the amusement park from destruction, Megumi sets out to meet someone.
Danji joins the town's Pro-Wrestler Association as a regular to revive it, but is shocked to find out that his opponent is none other than Hiroshi Tanahashi. However, being adept at Vanguard as well, Tanahashi suggests having their match in both arenas as "CardFight Pro-Wrestling".
Tohya appears once more at Wonder Hill with his partner Masanori, hoping to have another match against Danji. Danji wanted to accept the challenge from Tohya, but he has yet to sufficiently recover from his injuries the other day to cardfight. And so, Yu-yu challenges Tohya to a cardfight in Danji's place.
