With the Suez Crisis brewing in the background, a small team of British journalists prepares to launch an hourlong investigative news show on BBC tele…
June 1956. BBC reporters and soul-mates Bel Rowley and Freddie Lyon spot their opportunity to be a part of a brand new current affairs TV show at Lime Grove Studios. But as Freddie's interview looms, a chance meeting with an old friend finds him pursuing a new story and thrusts him deep into the middle of a dark and dangerous conspiracy.
‘The Hour’ is up and running, but Bel and Freddie are having trouble with Hector’s on-camera personality. Freddie gets deeper into his conspiracy investigations, as revolution in Egypt forces both Bel and Hector to step up their game.
Hector’s wife invites Bel and Freddie to the country for the weekend. Freddie accepts, hoping to find more clues to illuminate the murder of Ruthie, and Bell does as well after a nudge from Hector. The office becomes suspicious of Tom Kish.
Its Freddie's birthday and the effects of Tom's death are still being felt around the newsroom. Two huge news stories are breaking but Freddie's disappeared and it's a newly confident Hector who's leading the charge. Meanwhile Bel and Hector's affair gathers steam and Isaac's got his eye on Sissy.
As violence erupts over the Suez Canal, the British government cracks down on content censorship with a blackout. Will Bel accept McCains’ terms or risk cancellation by sticking to her guns? Freddie’s digging finally leads him to the mole, and more.
It’s time for Bel to choose between Freddie and Hector – as well as ‘The Hour’ a rival program – and Freddie uncovers not only the mystery of Ruth’s murder, but truths about himself that will change his life forever.
