Ursula and Gudrun are two sisters who struggle with issues of love, passion and commitment. Ursula is a teacher in a small provincial town. Gudrun is an artist, living a bohemian life in London. Both develop very different love stories.
In order to prove to Gudrun that he is serious about her, Gerald plans a trip to Africa along with Ursula and Rupert. But on their arrival there, Gerald and Gudrun's relationship becomes increasingly stormy. There she meets a handsome German artist.
