When uptight Deputy Marshal Scott Turner inherits Hooch, a giant unruly dog, his new pet destroys his apartment and seems dead set on destroying his career. Scott is desperate to get rid of Hooch, who seems to behave for everyone but him. But when a witness under Marshal protection is kidnapped, he realizes that the dog he never wanted may turn out to be the key to saving the day.
When the Marshals are assigned to protect the Olympic Committee, Scott and Hooch get stuck babysitting a diplomat's daughter. After Russian terrorists take the entire committee hostage, Scott and his dog are the only ones left to fight back... and Scott discovers it's suprisingly helpful having a "bad dog" by his side.
Scott volunteers Hooch's tracking skills to track a notorious jewel thief, hoping to team up with senior deputy Trent Havelock. His dreams are dashed when Hooch leads the team to a pet store and steals a squeaky toy. Scott consults with Erica and realizes that Hooch may be better at tracking than he seems, and he and Jessica have to stop a heist with some help from Hooch and the squeaky toy.
Scott takes charge of trial security for a Judge to impress his ex-girlfriend Brooke. He's joined by his new partner, office oddball Xavier Wilson. Hooch is surprisingly well-behaved, but the Judge makes Scott and Xavier's lives miserable. After a near-miss, Scott uses Hooch's strangely good behavior to find a mob assassin. In Cypress Beach, Laura and Scott find a lead in their dad's last case.
Scott and Xavier head to the small town of El Dorado to catch a fugitive. The bad guy escapes, and a very excited Hooch gets sprayed by a skunk. Scott's hopes of getting home for a date with Brooke are dashed as he is stuck in El Dorado with his stinky dog. Things turn around when Hooch finds a very important clue. Meanwhile, Laura tracks down a suspect with a new friend.
Scott, Hooch, and Xavier join a manhunt for an ex-special forces soldier who has fled into the woods. Trent is convinced the fugitive is a dangerous psychopath, but with some help from Hooch, Scott and Xavier realize there may be more to the story. Laura investigates a family friend who has been acting suspicious and learns a new twist in her Dad's case.
