Ba Wu, a scoundrel who survives by kidnapping widows for remarriage known as "bossam", accidentally abducts Su Gyeong, the king’s daughter and the daughter-in-law of the Left State Councillor Yi I Cheom.
Ba Wu realizes his mistake, only to learn that Yi I Cheom has ordered Su Gyeong’s death to cover up the abduction. Desperate and cornered, he decides to return her to the palace himself.
While returning Su Gyeong to the palace, Ba Wu is hunted by Yi I Cheom’s soldiers. Su Gyeong sneaks back into the palace but is forced to face a heartbreaking choice.
Believing death is the only way to protect everyone, Su Gyeong jumps into the river. Ba Wu races to save her, and together they hide, until Yi Dae Yeop finally discovers their secret hideout.
Dae Yeop pleads Su Gyeong to return home, but she refuses. When Yi I Cheom’s men abduct her, Ba Wu and Dae Yeop fight to save her, leaving Dae Yeop gravely injured.
King Gwanghae relocates Su Gyeong’s tomb to tighten his grip on Yi I Cheom. Alarmed, Yi I Cheom escalates his hunt, deploying more men to secure her fate.
