Vancouver's Eastside is a hotbed of crime, & drug abuse. The Beat Enforcement Team, is charged with maintaining order amidst the chaos. The team's newest recruit is Mariya Zhalovaga. With veteran Shane Aitken showing her the ropes, Mariya will have to learn quickly or risk being left aside. Meanwhile Sgt. Hinton orders Constables Russell & Prévost to investigate a string of robberies.
With his resources stretched to the limit, Sgt. Hinton is asked to commit officers to escorting street-cleaning crews through the Eastside. Two weeks into her training assignment, Zhalovaga, has yet to hit her stride. Meanwhile, Constable Fisher is struggling to balance the demands of work with her personal ambitions, as she attempts at getting pregnant.
Constable Kristie Fisher returns from medical leave, her latest attempt at getting pregnant having failed. With her partner Tara, they escort a local resident who's been receiving threats from a violent ex. Meanwhile, the B.E.T. try to track a drug dealer who's tortured women over drug debts. Due to an incredible rise in chronic offenders, Sgt. Hinton works to raise awareness of the problem.
Sgt. Hinton alerts his squad to a rash of drug overdoses that have swept across the Eastside. The illicit trade of methadone might be the cause. Meanwhile, Sgt. Hinton & Mark Steinkampf are both being considered for promotions. When Hinton decides to take the leap into upper management, the reins of the squad fall to his good friend, the newly minted Sgt. Steinkampf.
As Hinton adjusts to a more administrative role, his successor at the B.E.T., Sgt. Steinkampf, unveils his first operation in the Eastside: a major clean up of the drug trade taking place around the Community Center. Throughout this initiative, Constable Russell, one of the team's youngest officers, is hard at work mentoring the team's newest member, Marina Trenkel.
The drug abuse of the Eastside is starting to spill over into nearby Chinatown. With business owners & residents alarmed, the B.E.T. decides to act. Constable Black takes charge of the situation by clearing the streets of drug users, & then targets a notorious dealer who operates out of a Chinatown rooming-house. Constables Russell & Prévost face the growing problem of teenagers on the streets.
