Uganda

Romesh Ranganathan explores Uganda to find out whether it should be added to the vacation bucket list. He learns how Uganda got its name, before sampling traditional rural village life by getting blind drunk on banana gin. Romesh is awed by Uganda’s natural beauty but is unable to ignore an ugly truth. Will the treatment of the LGBTQ+ community change his opinion about the nation?

Rwanda

Romesh Ranganthan heads into Rwanda, a country he feels has been defined by the 1994 genocide. He learns the cultural significance of sharing milk and is put to work maintaining the pristine streets of the capital, Kigali. He encounters incredible wildlife, including giraffes, impala and lions. At the National Genocide Memorial Museum, he learns more about what happened in 1994.

The thoughts that flash into Romesh Ranganathan's mind as he considers Romania revolve around communism and Count Dracula. But is this image justified? He decides to find out and explores this vast tract of Eastern Europe in this engrossing travel documentary. He visits Vlad the Impaler’s castle, drives along the dangerous Transfagarasan Highway and dances to world-famous Roma music.

Madagascar

In the final part of his African odyssey, Romesh Ranganthan travels to the fourth largest island in the world: Madagascar. He discovers that local taxi drivers have an intoxicating way of economizing on fuel, admires breathtaking views from an impressive hilltop palace and visits a village shaman. But he also learns that the diverse flora and fauna face an unprecedented threat from climate change.
