Doctor Anna Macy wakes up in the back of a car, sitting on a remote cliff top in her home state, Tasmania. A place she has avoided all her adult life. Terrified and unable to start the car, Anna is confronted by an angry young logger, Adam Holloway, who reluctantly takes her into Kettering, the town Anna grew up in.
Anna wakes out of a fugue in her father's house. How did she get here? Having vague memories about being in Chloe's car, she heads to her house, only to learn from a hostile Barb, who remembers Anna as a child, that Chloe didn't come home the night before.
With Chloe's phone found crushed in Kettering Forest, not far from the Greenie's camp, Fergus tells the Holloway they will mount a search. Anna, who has suffered another blackout and woken in Fergus's bed, is adamant she wants to join the search.
