Modern-day high school student Saburou has no interest in history. He's sent back in time to the Warring States period, where he meets Nobunaga Oda, who turns out to look just like him. Brilliant but shy, Nobunaga asks Saburou to take his place.
Saburou, living out as Nobunaga, earns a reputation in Owari for being a fool of a lord. Yoshimoto Imagawa's spy, Denjiro, attempts to infiltrate the Nobunaga family as a retainer, but is seen through by chief retainer Hirate and quickly turned away.
Saburou meets Nobunaga's wife Kichou's father, the feared "Dousan the Viper", leading to a surprising development. War breaks out between Dousan and his son, Yoshitatsu, and Saburou sends support.
