Makar and Sergey find themselves involved in the investigation of the murder of an old woman called Ladynina. The case is complex because the few residents in the village, where the murder took place, had their own reasons and motives for killing Ladynina.
Each of the suspects has a dark side to their soul. So the task ahead of the detectives is not an easy one.
Finally, Ilyushin and Babkin decide how to take a break from working days, that is, from bloody murders and fatal secrets. Elderly woman Ladinina Yulia Mikhailovna is killed. Everything indicates that the killer was her son Mitya.
After managing to find out the license of the car that was spotted several times near the Ladynins' house, Sergey punches it in the database and finds out the owner who is actually dead. In his apartment, Sergey and Makar find sketches of a Scythian knife For a combination of reasons, Makar comes to the conclusion that Ladinina was killed with this particular knife.
In the ruins of an old manor they find the body of a local drunkard Ivanenko. He was killed, presumably by the same Scythian knife. Detectives, with the help of local investigator Kalinin, take Uskov, but he cannot prove his guilt about the two murders, Uskov has an iron alibi. It turns out that the past of Yermakov and his wife Lipa is not at all as good as it seemed at first glance.
The Scythian knife taken from Yermakov was sent to the laboratory, and from there information immediately arrived that it was a fake. Detectives understand that the knife was replaced by Masha, who entered the police station and played the fainting scene in front of the careless sergeant. Now, finding the woman who routed Makara around her finger becomes for him an honor.
