Innocent days are filled with kindness, at times with bitterness, but are always brimming with light. Mieko and Makio are friends in high school who befriend Eiji, a college student who works with them.
Eiji and Makio fall in love, Mieko gives birth to their child, and Makio encounters his old childhood friend Asato. This is a story of youth and their beautiful yet bitter experiences.
High schooler Mieko has difficulties dealing with the opposite sex. Her boyfriend turns violent one night, and she flees from the house. In the streets, she runs into Makio, a fellow classmate, and the two begin to hang out more and more. They even decide to get a part-time job together, where they meet college student Eiji.
Mieko, Makio, and Eiji grow close and spend time together outside of work. The three of them head to a lake for some BBQ. When Eiji drives his younger friends home, he realizes that he is developing feelings for Makio.
It's almost summer vacation for Mieko and Makio. Eiji's sister, Anna, suggests they go stay at their parents' villa. Everyone has a great time, but through a strange turn of events, Eiji reveals how he truly feels about Makio…
Makio decides to date Eiji. As the seasons pass, their love blossoms for one another. Mieko could not be happier for her friends and wishes for these days to never end.
Eiji refuses to come home because his father, Yosuke, does not approve of his relationship with Makio. During a surprise encounter with Makio, Yosuke shares how he really feels about their relationship.
Yosuke wants to have a word with Mieko, Makio, and Eiji. They expect Yosuke to finally give Makio and Eiji his blessing. Instead, Yosuke asks them to break up. When Eiji and Makio despair, Mieko offers the only thing she can: To give birth to their baby.
