When Dr.

Alfred Morris experiments with a poisonous ancient Mayan gas, he discovers that it produces a "death in life" state in the subject, with irreversible effects that can only be temporarily halted by a mixture of herbs and heart fluids.

As part of a plan to steal the lover of his assistant, Ted, he uses the Mayan formula to turn Ted into a murdering ghoul.
