Three German refugees just prior to World War II are at the beck and call of the Nazis, always hiding, always in fear of the Gestapo. A political dissident, a Jewish chemist, fleeing for her life; and a young man born of a Jewish mother and Aryan father separate as they move across Europe with an unknown future.
