Bethesda, an adopted Filipina performance artist, has spent her life trying to find a place she can call home. She moves into an artist commune in San Francisco in an attempt to workshop her latest piece, which deals with finding her biological mother.
Soon she discovers clues of her mother's whereabouts and also comes to terms with the possibility that she might be a "fruit fly."
