Jean Blake (Nadine Garner) is still adjusting to life after her husband Lucien’s disappearance 8 months earlier, when she’s unexpectedly drawn into the investigation of a pair of bizarre murders whose only connection seems to be a series of newspaper articles in The Courier on Ballarat's most infamous unsolved mysteries.
Two seemingly unrelated murders have occurred on the same day, Councilwoman Jean is drawn into the investigations despite Chief Superintendent Matthew Lawson's objection after Lucien's disappearance.
Another murder is committed, and Jean discovers clues in the newspapers that will lead her to the culprit with the help of Coroner Alice Harvey.
